Kategoria Old School to bardzo specyficzna i zastanawiajšca dyscyplina. Wszystkie zespoły grajš od lat bardzo podobnie nie wychylajšc nosa poza ramy stylu. Zmieniajš się nazwy – zmieniajš kraje pochodzenia kapel – nie zmienia się schemat. Czasami można mieć wrażenie, że te wszystkie hardcore'owo - old schoolowe hordy to takie grupy rekonstrukcyjne dawno temu wymyœlonej matrycy. Na specjalne zainteresowanie socjologów zasługuje jednak fakt niesłabnšcego szaleństwa zwišzanego z tš "odtwórczoœciš". Dotychczas nikt nie zbadał dlaczego ludzie kupowali, kupujš i jak sšdzę jeszcze długo będš kupować płyty z okładkami, po których od razu widać czego można się spodziewać wewnštrz. Prawie dokładnie tak jest i w tym przypadku. Okładeczka z typowym designem, tłum pod scenš œpiewajšcy wraz z zespołem, liternictwo nazwy bez zarzutu, kraj pochodzenia: Portugalia. Niby wszystko już było z tš różnicš, że..... PRESSURE to jednak BARDZO DOBRE CHOLERSTWO (!!) Dowodem na to jest fakt, że na drugš 7"Ep w dorobku zespołu z Faro rzuciło się aż czterech wydawców. Przy ich potencjale każdy mógłby przecież zrobić to sam. Szesć wœciekłych utworów w wydaniu PRESSURE oczywiœcie w stylu od lat opierajšcycm się jakimkolwiek brudzšcym go naleciałoœciom ROZRYWA ! Oczami wyobraŸni widzę ich koncerty. To musi być wylkan enegii, dŸwięków, wrzasku, singa longów, circle pitów i nieustajšcych stage davingów. Old School to afirmacja młodoœci i chyba w tym tkwi jego siła. Jeœli nawet Twój brzuch nie pozwala Ci na więcej niż tupanie nogš – popatrzeć i posłuchać też przyjemnie. OLD SCHOOL to PRESSURE. PRESSURE to OLD SCHOOL. PRESSURE wytsrzałowe sukinkoty (!!!) dadzš Ci go.

When I was in this band's hometown of Faro, Portugal (a beach town of 41,000 on the country's south coast) last summer, I remember seeing som sick "Faro Style Hardcore" graffiti by the train tracks, and remember thinking to myself "that's pretty rad, I wonder what this style is like. "fast forward a year, and I get this 7" for review, which sounds more like it draws heavily from CARRY ON's A Life Less Plagued than anything: from the frustrated-sounding riffs and vocals to the clean production style and abrupt opening song, though this record doesn't have the same desperation or attention to songwriting. It's obviously easy to fail at writing youth crew that's worth a shit, and the line between straightforward and generic is about as delicate as the sobriety of an impressionable 20-year-old Bridge Nine fan, but this band passes the test, and writes some high-energy stuff that makes me wish I'd caught them while I was in their town.

I remember that people were very excited about Pressure’s demo which was released on vinyl by Positive and Focused, Monument and Heartland Records. That excitement wasn’t misplaced as a lot of European hardcore kids were longing for a band that brought back that positive hardcore-vibe of Insted and The First Step.
One only has to hear Trapped Inside, the first song of this EP, to realise that another band has been a main influence on this Pressure record: A Life Less Plagued- era Carry On.
Yet Portugal’s Pressure isn’t the reincarnation of one of the best straight edge bands of the late nineties. Unfortunately, if you are as much into Carry On as I am.
Pressure misses the ‘punch’ that made that last Carry On record such a great one. Especially the singer seems to be out of breath on the longer songs like Crossed Out. (Which has a great sing along part in the end). And some of the riffs seem to be a bit chaotic, this however can also have something to do with the sound quality of my digital promo copy.
Where A Life Less Plagued was a record that had some kind of urgency and frustration, Your Rage is an ep of hard songs that lack the emotional ballast which made A Life Less Plagued such a strong output. Maybe Pressure tried a bit too hard to follow in Carry On’s footsteps whereas they should have sticked with themselves a bit more.
