Recenzje / Reviews:
To doświadczenie owocuje. Początku do "Living under lies" oraz tytułowego "Double dose of negativity" mogę słuchać bez końca.

To start with... This is one of the best hardcore albums I've heard in 2011... Period. Nothing is a brand new band from Berlin, even though its members are well experienced musicians (sic) and active individuals in the European hardcore / punk scene. Jobst used to play for Highscore, Monster and Peace Of Mind, Matthias was in Durango 95 and Highscore, Matze was in Costa's Cake House and Monster, Mark in Bombenalarm and Nails, and Ronny in Situations... Pretty interesting / competitive CV, don't you think so?! So, Double dose of negativity includes 8 songs (25min.) of no fills - no frills hardcore / punk music. Think of a crossover between 80s NYHC, a bit of Japanese hardcore and some rock 'n' roll parts, including influences from all the former bands of the members. Sharp guitars, catchy riffs, angry vocals... The production is awesome. Neither overproduced nor rough. It fits the best Nothing's sound. Lyricwise, Nothing are pessimistic enough both for society and the hardcore scene. They are pissed off with Berlin, as well. The title of the record unveils everything after all... 'Is it just me - me growing old? Or have things really gone dull? I might get harder - harder to impress, but this hardcore is a mess'... I dunno, sometimes I feel the same. Sometimes I look at the bright side of life / hardcore scene. Nevertheless, Nothing's debut album is a must have for every hardcore kid that believes that hardcore is more than silly beatdowns, tough guy attitude and backstabbing. The rest can get the fuck out of here.

Eight blasts of technically proficient, slick sounding hardcore that uses a lot of speed picking in the faster parts, with no deficit of solos and leads from these German' core junkies. This record is pretty much a mish-mash of everything - there's even a surf-y part - and decent in a Youth Crew meets later POISON IDEA meets TURBONEGRO way, but nothing I will pull out to play all that often.

I was just chatting with me mate Rune, and we noticed we didn’t know a band called Nothing, when I picked up this 12’’ a couple days later at the Rinderherz HQ!Life is weird sometimes, hehehe.Bandname and 12’’ title gives it away, this is pretty nihilist hardcore punk, and song titles prove it even more:”Waiting”,”Dead Inside”,”Living Under Lies”,”Everything Is Wrong”,”Nothing’s Alright”…These german straight edgers(seeing this is on Refuse,I suspect these germans to be…)don’t see much hope.I can understand that when I look at the world and all the skit humyns do…?.However, listen to the 8 songs-holy bretzel!!Sounding so angry and punk as fuck, hope is we get more such intense songs by Nothing in the future!Contrary to the band(or the guy who wrote the lyrix)I’m far from being bored with this! But I do question some bands’ passion for the scene as well.Comes with printed innersleeve.Ay,I’m waiting for the next dose here?!

Let's talk about candies. I definitely like candies. I like sucking, eating, buying, licking and eating again, what else candies. And know what? I don't care if my teeth get rotten to the core. The good things with candies are the sweetness itself. And know what? NOTHING is a fucking sweet band, so com'on and sucks it, lick and dig it.
If I can judge right from the pics the band have upload in their blog, here we have the two Guitarist (and the one vocalist of course) of the almighty MONSTER. and i damn right, the band's members have been involved with groups like Monster, Highscore, Durango 95, Costa's cake house, Bombenalarm and Nails. What the fuck? The best bands outta germany the last decade in front of my eyes. You know my love for the german hardcore scene of the 00's and i have done lots of posts in this blog, coz they deliver it in the right way. Punishing, mid-paced with lyrics like acid and riffs like nails and this band is no exception. Mid-tempo hardcore punk with a touch of 80's us hardcore, yep it's brilliant. So, if you liked the last Monster's album alongside some Highscore parts (especially the double vocals), some rockish parts like Nails and later Bombenalarm then you'll dig this for sure. And yes, alongside overpower's tape this is the best LP of 2011.period. I just bought this great lp and i highly recommend to everyone of you to do the same.

I was a bit hesitant to put this 12" on. The band name and album title made me think of a third rate Tragedy or something. But Germany’s Nothing play straight up and fast melodic hardcore, pretty similar in style to bands like Kill Your Idols and more recently Brat Pack. Though Nothing is a fairly new band, the band members have paid their dues in acts like Highscore, Monster and Bombenalarm before. But I have to say I find Nothing more convincing than Highscore ever was (I haven’t heard anything by Monster or Bombenalarm so that’s my point of reference). The band blends straight up hardcore with parts Japanese stuff, some Poison Idea and a bit of surf to create something familiar yet very refreshing. This is the kind of record you hope will influence a new generation of hardcore kids to start doing bands and putting up shows. With Nothing as an influence they sure as hell made a very good start. Other reviewers on the web call this the best lp of 2011. And if I have heard this one last year I would be more than inclined to put it on my list of strong records as well. Double Dose Of Negativity is just the kind of album I need once in a while to refresh my love for plain no frills hardcore.

"we forgot what we were fighting for"?
